concerning gastric bypass surgery; what happen to the unused portion of the stomach and intestine?

It is still there. It is basically cut in partially. There are some surgeries where they of late bind it with a rubberband similar to attachment.
Discarded, like any other unusable human tissue remnants from other operation (appendicitis etc.).
it stays in you, it is bypassed around it.
